Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Schools should focus more on science and mathematics than humanities courses. Include specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

It is a well-known fact by everybody that schools play a significant role in our lives. Nowadays, one of the most important discussions about the education system of schools is whether schools should focus more on science and mathematics than humanities courses or not. As far as I am concerned, I hold the idea that schools should focus more on science and mathematics in that science and mathematics are difficult subjects to understand, countries must bring up talented engineers to improve their technology, and these lessons are more beneficial to prepare children for their adulthood.

To begin with, I agree with the statement that children cannot exactly learn mathematics and science without any professional help, but they can get knowledge about humanities courses by reading books. For example, a student needs necessary mathematical basement to solve a complex integral problem and he cannot get this basement without any help. However, a student who wants to learn something about volcanic eruption can buy a geography book and can easily reach the necessary knowledge by reading this book.

Another key point why I agree with the above statement is that there is a huge technological competition among countries and this competition is getting harder day by day. So, our schools must focus more on mathematics and science to grow up talented engineers. For example, when we check the Second World War, we can see that the technological advantage of Germany provided them supremacy during the war. They produced first rockets to hit London and they accomplished it. Moreover, these technological advantages continued to provide benefits throughout the war.

Last but not least, mathematics and science also provide children problem solving ability. Thus, they can easily solve their social problems in their adult life and can set up good communication with other people. For instance, an engineer always approaches to problems systematically and makes plan to solve them step by step. This method works in every area of our lives.

All in all, it is certain that schools should focus more on mathematics and science than humanities courses because of their benefits that provide long term technological advantages to countries, prepare children for their adult life better, and deal with their difficulties in understanding subjects.
