Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better for children to grow up in a big city than in the countryside. Include specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

It is a well-known fact by everybody that the place where children are brought up is important. Nowadays, some may hold the opinion that it is better for children to grow up in the countryside than in a big city. As far as I am concerned, I hold the idea that growing up in a big city has more advantages for children than growing up in small towns in that they can have such opportunities as being able to have good education, having advanced health facilities, and spending time in various social environment.

To begin with, I agree with the statement that children can have better education in a big city without reservation since there are many good quality schools. That is to say, they can find more beneficial schools which have effective education system to provide advantages and possibilities according to their skills, ability and tendency. To illustrate, children can have a chance to get educational environment with people who have the same abilities and interests like themselves and this will give them emotional and social success. However, schools in small towns have limited educational opportunities, so children may not be able to improve themselves adequately if they study there.

Another reason why I agree with the above statement is that I strongly believe that in a big city there are very sophisticated health services and experienced, qualified doctors because hospitals in a big city are invested more than the ones in the countryside as there live many more people there. To be more precise, being healthy and maintaining it is very important for children while growing up, so living in big cities is more beneficial for them to stay healthy and to lead a better life.

Last but not least, although some people may disagree, I personally think by growing up in a big city, children can make many friends who have cultural differences. They can share and discuss their experiences, develop lifelong friendships, and learn to cherish their friends’ differences. Therefore, they can do activities with the diverse groups of people. To illustrate, in a big city, there are many theaters, sports facilities, libraries, museums, and other places where people gather for entertainment and leisure activities. However, small towns do not have the same number of places where people can meet in order to socialize.

All in all, it is certain that growing up in a big city creates educational opportunities, community services, developed health services and encourages children to interact with other people. Taking into account of all these factors, we may reach the conclusion that it is better for children to grow up in a big city than in the countryside.
